Both the Sea Shepherd ships Steve Irwin and the Bob Barker are struggling in very heavy weather today as the chase in the Southern Ocean continues. Everyone is being thrown around making even walking or even sitting in a chair a struggle. Seven meter swells, sub zero temperatures and plenty of growlers bobbing in the wind whipped white waves. Not pleasant, BUT Sea Shepherd continues to hound and dog the whaling fleet and there has been very little time for them to hunt whales. We have chaed the fleet for over 5,000 miles from west of Australia to deep in the Ross Sea. The harpoon vessel Yushin #2 has been chasing the Steve Irwin and has not killed a single whale this season. The harpoon vessel Yushin Maru #3 continues to chase the Bob Barker and has not killed a single whale this season. The harpoon vessel Yushin #1 has been running steadily and has had very little time to kill whales although it is possible they may have taken a small number. The security ship Shonan Maru #2 has still not caught up with us after transferring their Australian prisoners to the Australian Customs vessel Ocean Protector. The Nisshin Maru continues to flee from us although we can't move in on them with the harpooners relaying our position to them. The key to success this year is to keep chasing them and to keep them running. People in Japan are fast losing patience with this glorified welfare scheme to keep this despicable antiquated industry alive with massive government subsidies taken from the Earthquake Tsunami Relief Fund. We will chase these outlaw killers no matter how turbulent the seas, how low the temperatures, how great the distance. Whaling in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary must be ended and we intend to end it.
